Christine and Barry
Barry listened intently to Christine's story, his eyes widening and face showing genuine compassion when he realized how traumatic of an experience that must have been for her. To not only lose the man she loved, but to be expecting his child and then also lose that child? It sounded like it would have the kind of lasting impact that his losing his mother at such a young age had on him.
When she got to her question, he was actually taken aback but not in a bad way. He honestly hadn't given a lot of thought to the whole procreating aspect of being here. The building a new society, especially a better one, was important to him. And the sex was a really nice bonus, but he wasn't sure he was in any position to bring a child into the world, even though it would be a better world than the one he left behind. Being forced to consider that was not necessarily a bad thing, but he knew that he couldn't give her a definitive answer right now.
"Christine, I'm flattered," he said, reaching for her hand and giving it a gentle squeeze "I can't give you an answer right away. This is something I need to think about."
