With every passing day, Octavia was more sure that accepting Arva's invitation was the right decision. She had opportunities here for a life that she never could have had at home. After spending the first sixteen years of her life in a small room, hiding under the floorboards to avoid detection, and then spending the next year and change in the Skybox, she relished the freedom to move around and explore her surroundings. In hindsight, one of the reasons she was drawn to Lincoln and the Grounder lifestyle was that it was so open and freeing compared to her experiences in the sky.
But even that life was fraught with danger and tension. You couldn't ever let your guard down for fear of attack and while Octavia learned the warrior ways of the Grounders quickly, having a chance to live her life without fear was something she was enjoying getting used to. Yes, she still grieved deeply for the loss of Lincoln, but she knew that he wouldn't want her get lost in her sadness and that the best way to honor him and his sacrifice was to actually live her life.
She was still taking some time to get really into the swing of things here socially, though her hookups with Inari and Scott had been more than satisfying. So many years of solitude made it difficult for her to embrace the art of making friends. She was trying though and had decided to spend some time on the beach this morning, splashing in the surf and simply enjoying nature.
