Sure, Quill had agreed to this. It's a beautiful place, and coming straight out of the cluster that was the showdown with Ronan, some peace and quiet was a great idea.
Okay, there was a certain amount of "running away" that could be read into it, which left a sour taste in his mouth (over the guys he'd left, not the act itself, he was a pro at running away), but he could always go back, after he'd had enough of his vacation. Shit, maybe he was dead anyway, not like it was a great situation to begin with. Not like it read like something people generally survived.
The number of things Quill actively worried about, real, honest-to-God stressed about, he could count on one hand. If that. So he filed this on that list and moved on. The sun was out, the air was warm, the water was blue and his skin was intact. Everybody else would probably be fine. Nothing he could do about it right now anyway, right?
The bigger deal thing right now was his gear. It didn't work; none of it. He tapped the button for his helmet, and it clicked but didn't do anything. He tapped, poked, jabbed...nothing. His blasters were dead too, like they'd lost all their charge, and the jets didn't work either. Well that was annoying. At least his tape deck still did? As long as the batteries held out, anyway.
Okay, first thing figured out. Next, he needed to figure out how this place worked. Food, shelter, all the basics. Without his gear or any modern conveniences. Yeah, this was gonna go well. Earth had been primitive compared to space, and this place was even worse than Earth.
Anyone happening upon Peter while he's exploring the camp will be greeted with a guy who looks like he wandered out of a sci-fi movie, muttering under his breath.
"Seriously, what is this, Land of the Lost? Come on."
