Eddie, as always, had risen early to start on the day's chores. He liked to be busy - he certainly wasn't the type who stayed in bed or on the couch. He was an active young man who needed things to do - and in a place where they were literally building society from the bottom up that wasn't hard to do.
He was on his way to the beach today. Finnick had the fishing covered, but in the absence of excess soap, sand worked nicely for scouring and cleaning, so he was going to get a bucket of it to take back to camp.
Suddenly, he heard footsteps on the path in front of him and stopped. It seemed like a lot of new people were arriving lately - which was fine with him - but he was simply surprised that he'd stumbled upon another one. Of course, it could just be Finnick, down fishing early, but his senses told him it was something - someone - else entirely.
A few steps more and he saw her, swallowing as he took her in. Okay, so absolutely nobody in this place was ugly, and she followed the pattern there. Clearing his throat, he took a step forward.
"Hey," he said. "I'm Eddie. Did you just get here?"
