Who: Chris Argent and Jordan Parrish
What: Uh. Fancy meeting you here.
Where: The beach
When: Monday evening//after Parrish's scene with Bucky

Parrish had been on the island for less than 12 hours. He'd mapped out a bit of it, cataloging landmarks in his mind, so he could find his way back to where he'd been. He'd chatted with Bucky, and found out some vital information, and he was feeling pretty good about things.

He made his way back to the beach where he'd first arrived, because that just made sense. He figured he'd keep going back to the beach until he felt entirely comfortable around the island. It worked because it gav him a central location, a place to base everything else off of.

He wasn't exactly surprised to see someone else walking the beach, but he was a little bit shocked when he realised who it was. "Mr Argent? Sir?" he called out, and jogged to catch up to Chris Argent, who he would have to admit, was one of the last people he ever expected to find in this place.

Chris turned slightly. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me," he said with disbelief. "Not that I'm not happy to see you, but seriously. I have got to stop meeting people from home on the beach. You're seriously the third damn person." It was amusing, and yet had him wondering if it was some weird sort of draw.

But not the most important thing here, Chris.

"So, how badly did I break your brain? Because I'm pretty sure I broke Derek's a good one," he said, and there was a bit of something that could almost be called a smile. "I also broke Scott's. Actually, I think he might have been a little scared of the fact that I'm here. You'd think I'm intimidating or something." Okay, now you're just being a smart-ass, Chris. Amazing what not being impaled and in shock from blood loss can do for a man, isn't it?

Parrish grinned and shook his head. "No, sir. I mean, yes, Yes, you are intimidating, sir." See how he kept saying 'sir'? Yeah. That was a good indication of the healthy respect he had for Chris Argent's intimidation factor. And here he was, a hell hound, who could turn into a fireball and reap all sorts of terror and destruction. But he didn't do that, as a rule, unless someone he cared about was in danger.

Chris, on the other hand, could silence a man with that intense stare of his. He didn't need to be anything more than human to put the fear of God in someone. And okay, yeah. it was a little bit odd to find him here, in this place, when Parrish knew why he'd found his way to the island. But really, who could blame him? The guy lost his wife in a really insanely tragic way. It made sense that he'd...well, devote himself to something else.

Parrish sure as hell didn't blame him. "But it's good to see you?" Or something. because he didn't want it to sound like he was making a pass at the man. He wasn't! He liked women. And he liked younger woman, truth be told. Or at least one in particular. Which made him wonder if Lydia was around at all...Because if she wasn't, well. Well, maybe he'd explore other options...

And that got a laugh out of Chris. "Do me a favor and relax, Parrish, before you start getting twitchy. As amusing as it would be? I'd be sending you off to go hide with Scott. And that would just be a little terrifying." Because really.

And then a curious tilt of his head. "So what all have you learned about this place so far? Because there's a surprising amount to it for a place where it's all about reproduction." Well, not literally "all" but that would work for a simplification to get the point across. He was reasonably certain Arva would forgive him for it. Either that or she'd be having words with him later. Either way, not a thing he needed to be worrying about at the moment.

And really, asking that was better than asking about what might've motivated Parrish to be there. There were some things you didn't necessarily ask someone you knew. Because you might not actually want to know that stuff. No, you pretty much definitely didn't want to know that stuff. It was basically asking for information that would break you a little.

Now he knew how Derek had probably felt the other day.

"Well, I know it's affectionately referred to as 'Sex Island'." Parrish rolled his shoulders. "And that procreation is the ultimate goal, but really sex is sex." He managed to keep a straight face. He was glad, though,t hat Argent wasn't a werewolf. Hopefully he wasn't picking up on any subtle cues Parrish wasn't meaning to be putting out there.

Because he was straight. So very straight. He'd never even considered...and he wasn't considering it now! Really, he wasn't. Argent was, in his own words, intimidating. Very intimidating. But on the other hand, he also knew what Parrish was, and he wasn't intimidated by the hell hound. There was that word again, intimidating. It seemed to be a theme, and Parrish wasn't sure what to think about that.

"I also know that there's no grocery store or fast food joint to get food. WHich kind of sucks. But what're you gonna do?" He smiled a little, trying to play it off.

"You get used to things pretty quickly," Chris said with a shrug. "The best was the topless woman who gave me a banana leaf." He laughed slightly. "Patty was... yeah, she was pretty awesome. She's gone now. Went home. Hope home's good to her."

Because she'd been a sweet girl; of course he was going to hope for nothing but the best for her. And send apologies into the universe -- except not actual apologies, he figured Arva knew the difference -- because poor Patty had had to deal with him having sex with someone for the first time since Victoria's death.

"And the people here are an interesting, eclectic bunch," he said. "Which makes for interesting conversations. The thing I like is, it isn't everyone getting along all the time. Arva and the other gods kept it true to life that way, pulled in a good cross-section, I think. Because if we were all too like-minded, there'd be a big problem and the project would fail."

Yeah, the logical hunter could see the validity of things way too easily here.

"Yeah," Parrish nodded. "I met Bucky already. He fed me and gave me some information," which Parrish appreciated. "He seems like an interesting guy." Parrish would probably make an effort to stay in contact with the guy. He seemed like he might be a good person to have on your side, if you needed something.

Of course, Chris freaking Argent was a good man to have on your side if you needed someone. Parrish wasn't sure he could say they were friends, exactly, but...but he hoped they could be. Because he not only respected Argent, but he sort of looked up to him. The man knew his shit, and he tended to get what he wanted. Definitely the kind of guy you'd want on your side when the going gets tough.

And Parrish knew it could. Argent confirmed that the island wasn't all pleasure and fun, but Parrish could figure that out on his own. Nothing could be entirely good. Good didn't exist without the opposite. God, now he was starting to think like some kind of scholar or something. He needed to nip that in the bud right away.

"How long have you been here, sir?" he asked, trying to bring the conversation back around to Argent. Because that was better than the direction his thoughts were going.

"I've been here a month and a half," Chris replied. "And it... on the one hand it doesn't feel that long, but on the other? It feels like it's been a very long time. I think that's probably because it's such a different environment. Because really, this is entirely unlike anything we've ever dealt with back home."

A shrug.

"At the same time? I've settled in pretty well. Or so I'd like to think, at least. It's settle in or be forever on edge, I'm pretty sure, and who wants to be on edge in a place like this? Because even with there being pregnant women and naturally wanting to do what you can to protect them, which I think is an instinct everybody has regardless of whether or not said pregnant women can take care of themselves, if you're constantly on edge then you're just going to burn yourself out."

And he'd come perilously close to burning himself out a few times before. He'd nearly done it after Victoria's death, for one thing. Burning out was hardly the sort of thing he wanted to do now.

"I know exactly what you mean, sir," Parrish said. He didn't think twice about referring to the man as 'sir'. He was military trained, after all. 'Sir' was a common and respectful way to address someone who was older. And someone you respected.

He nodded. "I definitely don't want to be on edge. Is there any reason I should be?" he asked. Because Argent would tell him, if there was. Argent knew what he harbored inside of himself. Bucky had told him it wasn't a big deal if he was more than human, but he wasn't sure he wanted to be known as The Hell Hound. The world 'hell' was involved, after all, and there was a lot of stigma attached to that word.

Insofar as he could, he'd rather just be known as human. There were a few people, obviously, who already knew the truth, and that was fine. He just felt like maybe it should stay between the small circle of those form beacon Hills.

Chris thought about it a moment, because that wasn't the sort of thing you wanted to give an inaccurate answer on. Especially not to someone like Parrish, who might have better cause than most. "Not so much, no," he said after a moment. "Ordinarily I might say that the whole adjustment curve could set you on edge a little, but really. If you can't adjust, I'm a little afraid of the military as a whole at this point."

Was he joking? Was he not? Little hard to tell there. Chris' sense of humor could be dry on a good day and you never knew when it was a good day. One of the many curses of what he'd gone through in life.

"But no, not any reason to be on edge. Not any serious reason, anyway. Arva and the other gods wouldn't select anyone who'd present a serious problem to our new way of life," Chris said. "Conflict, yes. Personal problems, maybe. But anything more than that, I doubt it."

And he only phrased it like that because old habits died hard for a hunter, even one who wanted to be there.

"Probably why she didn't come to me until now," Parrish said. He could talk about the hell hound with Chris. Chris knew. Chris had watched over him while he slept, had followed him when the hound took over and led him out of the apartment. He trusted Chris. He trusted Chris as much as he'd trust his brothers in arms when he was in Iraq.

"Because it's under control now. Now that I know what it is. And it served its purpose." But it was still there, very much still there, just reduced to a quiet rumble beneath the surface. Parrish had no doubt he could call on the hound at will, if he needed to. he hoped to hell he never needed to.

Because the hound wasn't something to toy with. It was a pretty serious monster under the bed, and it gave Parrish some pretty high powered strength. But he didn't need, and didn't want, to call on it. He really did want to be just human. Even if, in reality, the human in him was dead. He had all the memories, everything about Jordan Parrish was inscribed into him. Even his parents couldn't tell the difference. Because for all that it mattered, he was Jordan Parrish.

And he was a resident of the affectionately named Sex Island.
