Simon found that he was enjoying Sydney's company despite the age difference. To him, that wasn't a big deal, she certainly seemed a lot more mature. Of course, he wasn't sure exactly how old she was, just that she was younger than him. Perhaps by ten years? He didn't know but he found he just didn't care.
He had enjoyed their conversations and was looking forward to getting to know her better. So he figured dinner would be a good way to do it. Did he want it to be a date? He thought so but if it didn't then he would be happy with friendship. While he was wanting to explore something with her he was worried about betraying Kaylee. He loved her and she would always come first but here it wasn't something that many people seemed to be concerned about.
Unfortunately, he didn't have many clothes so he found his cleanest outfit and slipped into it. Making his way to the beach, basket of food in hand. Arriving, he spread out the rug that he had found and started to unpack the basket when she arrived. "Hello," he said rising to greet her, a smile upon his face. "You're looking lovely tonight," he told her honestly. "Make yourself comfortable. I'm afraid I didn't get much food, but I managed to get some variety. I wasn't sure what you would like," he explained as he settled down on the rug again.
