Stiles wasn't so lost in thought that he didn't hear someone walking nearby. He just made a decision not to look and see who it was until they spoke. The girl looked familiar, in that way that everyone here did, since there weren't that many of them and most everyone came to the bonfires on a regular basis, but they hadn't spoken before.
"No need to apologize," he said. "It's a public beach. Besides, this view to way too gorgeous to keep to myself."
He patted the sand next to him, an obvious invitation for her to join him if she was so inclined. Maybe it would be good for him to talk to someone else, get out of his head and stop obsessing over everything that was going on right now. It was something he struggled with far too often.
