Eight straightened a bit so that she could see his loot - some very nice looking fruits and vegetables that he'd managed to gather. He was looking forward to trying them; if this place was the paradise that it claimed to be then it only made sense that the produce from here would be pretty much paradise too.
"There's a lot more back there, too," he said. "Lots of fruit on the trees, more than I could possibly carry. But I was thinking it might be nice to actually get some crops going; more than the garden we have so far. I mean, agriculture's kind of what let us build cities and really make a civilization back home, we might start thinking about doing the same thing here. We can't go on as hunter/gatherers forever. It isn't sustainable."
Especially as their population grew, as it was already starting to, apparently.
