Chloe woke up in her bed, which she still felt really decadent lounging in, rolled onto her side and pulled the blanket up over her head as she grumbled in resistance to waking up. The lump that was Chloe went still as if she were going back to sleep then suddenly the blanket was tossed off as she sat up, her eyes going wide. She rubbed at her eyes, blinked then gaped to make sure she wasn’t still dreaming. No. She was awake, and it was a beautiful, perfect, fantastic morning.

“….oh my god…”

There. Sitting just as she’d left it at home was the love of her life, her life’s breath. Her beloved laptop. Anyone with a shelter near hers would be able to hear Chloe’s squeal of joy as she scrambled from the bed to scoop up her baby. Even better, she noted that the power cord came. She wouldn’t lose use of it once the battery ran down. Hugging the laptop against her chest she grinned up at the ceiling of her shelter. “Thank you thank you thank you!” With this she’d be able to contribute so much more to their community!

First things first. She had to get dressed. It took until she had her shorts on before she realized she’d received new clothing straight from her closet at home along with the laptop. Her smile wasn’t going to go away any time soon. Once dressed she grabbed up her laptop and power cord then all but ran for the construction site and that speaker.

It was still kind of early yet. Not many people were here yet. There was one obvious new member of their society who prodded his cold wet nose under her arm for some attention. “Hey, you!” Chloe was absolutely charmed by the puppy and ruffled those adorable floppy ears. “You want to help? This is going to be great.” She grinned as she plugged her baby into the power supply, sat down then opened up the monitor to get started. Hearing the bong indicating a successful start up, Chloe could barely contain her excitement.

Windows were opened to change the settings so she wouldn’t be wasting memory on things she couldn’t access anymore…like the internet…but it looked like all the programs she’d need for coding weren’t corrupt. Yay! All good things and something she’d explore more thoroughly later. For right now, she wanted to alert the community that she was plugged in…her way. All it took was a few clicks, turning on the speaker, ruffling the puppy’s fur in between tasks then hitting Enter, and the speaker came alive.

Chloe reached out to crank the volume then sat back with a proud grin.

Now that she'd been back for a few days, Sara was settling into something of a routine: getting up early to train, spending the day helping out with the medical facility or wherever else around camp she was needed, eating dinner with the group, training for a few more hours, and then sleep. It probably wasn't the healthiest of routines and she knew that she was going to need to rekindle some of her previous friendships or forge new ones. Plus, it might be nice to actually have sex again. But she could ease herself into taking those steps. For now, she was good with things the way they were.

This morning's training was a long run on the beach. When she finished, she was heading back to her shelter for a quick breakfast but got distracted when she heard music. Was she really hearing music? How was that even possible? Breakfast forgotten, she followed her ears, idly wondering if she was having some sort of mental breakdown, until she reached the main camp area and saw a grinning blonde.

"Okay, that's pretty cool," she admitted as she stood there and listened for a moment. It had been a while since she heard music.

Chloe turned a beaming smile up at the other blonde then extended her arms in a Ta Da! pose. There had been other songs she thought to play, but first thing in the morning they might have gotten her killed.

"Isn't it?" she asked in a very perky voice. "And this is just the beginning. The bracelets will connect to this with Bluetooth so I can load music on them for people. Provided they like what I have in my list already because wow we are so not near the internet or wifi." She chuckled. The lack of connection apparently did not diminish this victory for her.

Hearing that made the whole music thing even cooler and Sara grinned. "Count me in," she said. "I'm not super picky about music, but I'd love to have something to listen to when I'm working out." It would help her dissociate her experiences here from her training with the League (both times) and her time on Lien Yu, since neither of those involved music. And if Chloe had this song, she probably had some other classic rock, which Sara could certainly appreciate, especially after her jaunt to the 70s.

"What else can you do with your computer without the internet?" she asked. Technology was far from her area of expertise, but she knew that Felicity and Cisco could do amazing things with their computers and she got the sense that Chloe could match them in the tech skills department.

Plus, she was cute in the same adorable way that Sara found Felicity cute and that was never a bad thing.

"Well," Chloe said as she turned down the volume so they could talk without shouting. "If I can hook up to the electrical grid I can run scans to make sure everything is functioning at optimal performance, locate drains, surges or malfunctions. Plus, I can probably link it up to the medical equipment for evaluations."

She looked up expectantly, her excitement still plain on her face. "It can't run all the time since it's just a laptop, but it's a start. And if I can code up some programs if and when we get more computers I can just load them up to run."

"That sounds like it could be very beneficial," Sara said even though most of the technical aspects were a bit beyond her grasp. "Especially if we end up getting more computers eventually." She imagined that having access to a laptop for medical records would make things much easier for the doctor types than resorting to pen and paper. Plus it would probably be easier to secure. They just had to hope the gods and goddesses saw it that way and saw fit to gift them more.

The excitement was seriously adorable though and it made Sara smile. "So you're pretty much having the best day ever today?" she teased lightly. She wasn't going to judge; if her batons showed up, she'd be thrilled beyond belief, even though they didn't really have any threats to fight on the island. At least not so far. She wasn't convinced that wouldn't change at some point though.

"Do you need help getting anything set up?" she offered. "I mean, I don't know much about computers, but I can build you a desk or something?"

"I realize that other things are needed more urgently than computers, but it sure would make a few things easier." Chloe smiled as she shrugged a shoulder. "I just feel lucky I got what I did. I can at least do something to alleviate some potential issues."

Then her head snapped up with her eyes gone wide. "Really? You can do that?!"

Sara chuckled. "Absolutely. It wouldn't be that hard. We have the materials. I could probably put something rudimentary together in a couple of hours." It wouldn't be fancy, but it would be serviceable.

"Oh my god that would be fantastic!" Those eyes that had gone wide now lit up like a little kid on Christmas morning. "Because I don't mind admitting that sitting on the ground to work on this is bound to do nasty things to my neck and shoulders."

A sheepish grin came to her face as she rolled on of those shoulders, but she chuckled. Usually once she stated working she didn't notice anything else. More than once she'd found herself in an awkward position and had to move slowly to unkink.

"I can probably build you a chair too," Sara said. "I mean, it may not be the most comfortable thing, but yeah, I think I can manage that." How hard could it be to stick legs on a piece of wood? Now that she was thinking about it, she could probably make stools even easier for people who were tired of sitting on the ground all the time. That was definitely something to think about.

She gave the blonde a cute look. "And, hey, if all else fails, I've been told I give pretty decent backrubs."

Yes, she was flirting a little, though she wasn't really expecting it to go anywhere. It was just nice to be in the kind of setting where she could flirt without risking getting herself or anyone else in trouble. The openness here that people had towards same sex relationships was refreshing, especially after spending two years stuck in the 1950s.

"You are swiftly becoming my best friend!" Chloe grinned as she chuckled. Having a bed was phenomenal, but the lack of other furniture hadn't gone unnoticed. People would probably like to sit down at some point without getting sand in their pants. "You start doing that and everyone will want one."

Chloe's brows went up, recognizing a flirt when she saw one, especially after being here for a little while. Her grin became a little flirty back even as her cheeks turned a little pink. "Where were you yesterday when I couldn't walk back from the beach." That pink in her cheeks turned a little more red.

Sara was a little surprised that Chloe flirted back, though she found the blushing ridiculously adorable. "Apparently not where I needed to be to rescue a damsel in distress," she said. "Which is a shame. I'll try to do better with that next time."

Chloe had never been with a woman. She'd never even been flirted with by a woman. This was extremely new to her, but that wasn't to say she was curious. Growing up with meteor affected people, a best friend who was an alien and everything in between kind of left you with an open mind about things.

She shrugged a shoulder with a blithe chuckle. "Well." She was doing this. She was actually doing this. "Better late than never, right?"

"Well, next time you find yourself in need, make sure you send me a message," Sara said. She deliberately worded it vaguely so that Chloe could read into it what she wanted in terms of 'need'.

"I will." This was an interesting turn of events. Chloe smiled to Sara as she nodded. This place was about broadening horizons, trying new things. This...offer...could prove very interesting.

"I wouldn't mind a playlist to listen to while I'm working," Sara said. "Music makes the work go faster."

She wasn't going to push on the flirting too hard since she got the impression that Chloe wasn't used to having a woman hit on her.

"Sure!" Chloe said as she looked back to her laptop. "Actually, this is a perfect opportunity to try something that should work. In theory." Her grin was part sheepish and part excited. "Pull up a seat so you can look through my music files for what you liked. I'll make the list and see if I can upload it to your bracelet."

Sara grinned and sat down on the ground next to Chloe. "That would be pretty cool if you could," she said. "I know I miss having music." It wasn't the first time she was without, but it would be a nice thing to have around again.

"Well," she said as she started opening windows and typing rapidly. "The bracelets have Bluetooth capability, but we didn't want to use them like that for communication because of the feedback. However, I can sync a single bracelet with my laptop like I did with the speaker. The difference is, the bracelet has storage where the speaker doesn't. So, I parcel a playlist of music files to your bracelet and you can play music through it."

A proud little smile came to her face as her eyes went to Sara. "Not bad for a short blonde from Kansas, huh?"

"That is something that definitely needs to be remedied soon," Chloe said in a wistful tone. "I mean, how hard can it be to make some kind of fermented fruit thing?"

She turned a smile to Sara. "Barring that, what did you have in mind?"

Well, that was an unexpected turn of events. Sara was pretty certain that Chloe was the one flirting now and she couldn't help but smile. "Oh, I can think of a few things," she said. "If you're interested, that is."

Chloe just wanted to be sure they were on the same page. She'd have done the same thing with a male in Sara's position, but this was really new territory to her. And maybe she should let that be known.

Her smile warmed as she put her hand over Sara's. She didn't want this to be seen as back peddling. "No argument there," she said then bit her lip a little. "I've never done this with a woman before so..."

That didn't really surprise Sara. She had a sixth sense for that kind of thing and hadn't gotten the lady loving vibe off of Chloe. It sounded like she might be interested in experimenting a little though and Sara had zero problems helping her out with that.

"Well, if you want to give it a shot, I promise to be gentle," she said. "And if you decide you're not into it, that's okay too."

Mostly it was because she'd never been presented with the chance, but Chloe was always about trying new things.

She couldn't help but chuckle for the gentle thing, but her smile warmed as she wrapped her fingers around Sara's hand. "Won't know until I try."

"Your place or mine?" Sara asked. They probably shouldn't be taking time of of the day for this right now, considering how close they were to finishing the medical center, but she couldn't think of a better way to start the week.

"Mine has a bed," Chloe offered. She didn't know if Sara had one or not, but she didn't mind using hers. And hey, taking time off for a little R&R made for better working conditions later.
