The canteen kept the water a little fresher and colder than his coconut shells, so Sam accepted the it with a grin and took a long drink before wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. "Thank you, that hits the spot," he said. It was a little odd to him that the first wave of volunteers had gotten some extra provisions, but at least everyone was pretty willing to share what they had with everyone else. For the most part, everyone here seemed really cool about the communal nature of what they were doing and he appreciated that.
"Well, I could use a little more water to mix the mortar," he said. "If you wouldn't mind hauling back a little. There's a small bucket from the supplies that I've been using to mix it."
He really was making good progress on her shelter though. It wasn't extravagant, but it would be solid and keep the elements out. And it was large enough to fit a bed if the gods graced her with one.
