Martha took the flower from Barry, and immediately placed it in hair. "Does it look okay there," she said as her fingers touched at the petals gingerly. It was so beautiful, and it was thoughtful of Barry to bring her a gift. It was a simple gesture that spoke volumes.
Her lips were curled into a smile, and honestly she couldn't have cared less about what he was wearing. She had the same clothes she came in. Her shorts? They used to be jeans but she made them into cut-offs using the scissors in the first aid kit. But what Martha noticed was the effort he put into looking put together, and that mattered most.
"My day," she started to say as they walked along the beach. "Was uneventful," she finished with a laugh. "I mean, I moved the first aid center from one corner of the tent to the other, and that was it." It sounded ridiculous but her days in paradise had been slow going as of late. "I did work on my shelter for a bit. Well, airing it out since it got a little soaked." She turned to look at Barry, making note of the fact that he was much taller than she was, but she imagined that most of the men on the island (and probably some of the women) would tower over her petite 5'4" frame.
"Have you had a good day? You know, waking up in a bed and all that must have been nice," she teased.
