WHO: Sam Wilson and OTA Briseis WHAT: Getting acclimated WHEN: Thursday morning WARNINGS: TBD STATUS: Open, Complete
Yesterday's thunderstorm wasn't exactly the welcome to paradise Sam was hoping for, but he wasn't about to complain. Arva's invitation had come at a good time, when he was questioning himself and could use a break from real life. The idea of helping building a new society, hopefully a society without the strife that plagued his world, was too appealing to pass up. So far, everyone he's spoken with seemed nice and dedicated to the cause. Not to mention that all of the women were gorgeous.
He was up early and, while the sky was still overcast, it hadn't started raining yet, so he decided to go for a run and explore the area a little. The ground was still saturated from yesterday's rain, so he had to tread carefully and nearly wiped out in the mud a few times, but managed to stay on his feet. He picked some fruit for his breakfast and then headed back to camp to see if they were going to attempt construction today. If not, he was thinking he might try to start work on his own shelter. Sure, he was glad that there were a couple of communal shelters available in the main camp area, but he definitely wanted his own space and some privacy.
It was starting to rain again as he headed back to the main camp and he stifled a groan. Apparently his second full day in paradise was going to involve hanging out doing nothing again. When he arrived at the main camp, he was confused to realize that it wasn't raining there. His initial thought was that it just hadn't moved all the way inland, but after a minute or two, he realized that it appeared very deliberate — the sky above the main camp area and the site they were using to build the medical facility was completely clear, despite the fact that everything else was grey. Huh. Well, it wasn't actually the strangest thing Sam ever saw, so he shrugged and started uncovering the building supplies, figuring that if no one else showed up, he could at least figure out what he might need for his own shelter.
The sound of footsteps caught his attention and he turned to greet whoever was behind him with a smile.
