WHO: Martha Jones & Derek Hale
WHAT: Looking for herbs, gathering supplies to set up the temporary clinic
WHEN: Monday afternoon
WARNINGS: TBD
STATUS: Closed/Complete

Though she had only arrived on the island a couple of days ago Martha already felt that she was settling into the ways of the community that was already established. Everyone had been helpful, and extremely friendly, and for the first time since she had left The Doctor she felt that she could make a difference for the world at large. Not that she had ever belittled her career and the countless lives she had saved, but it was different than knowing that her actions saved the world.

And now she had that chance again. The help civilization start over with a group of people that were, well to put it lightly, were some of the most attractive people she had ever seen. It definitely made things easier when it came down to the repopulation aspect, and while Martha was no stranger to being in a relationship she couldn't help but wonder how things would work out on an island with a limited number of people. The logistics of it all made her head hurt, and she pushed it from her mind long enough to focus on the task at hand.

"Hey," Martha said when she saw Derek approaching from the distance. With the arrival of new medical supplies it was up to Martha to set up a temporary clinic for the residents while some of the others worked on creating a more stable structure. She was glad for Derek's help since collecting everything she needed would take more hands than what she had. "Thanks again for coming." She smiled brightly at him, and rocked on her feet a bit. "I know I asked for help navigating the island, but do you think you could help me set up a quick clinic area. Nothing too big," she interjected before Derek had a chance to say anything. "Just a little spot where I can intake patients and use the new supplies we received... yeah?"

Derek was getting used to this place, still, if he was being honest with himself. Detaching himself emotionally from pretty much everyone around himself was sort of a default, but eventually, he was going to have to change that. For now, the whole free love, living off the land thing was his focus point and he had to admit that, on the whole, he was enjoying that aspect of it so far. There were attractive women everywhere, but when Derek saw the new girl Martha posting, he pounced. She was a lot more his type just looking at her and once he'd gone to meet her and they'd talked a bit, she reminded him a bit of Larissa with a healthy side of what he remembered about Paige; in short, she had his attention.

She'd asked for his help navigating the island and, since the group seemed to favor starting with getting the electricity handled before building the medical facility they'd talked about — which wasn't Derek's forte — he'd been happy to oblige. He was more than inclined to have a viable excuse to spend more time with her.

Offering a smile as he approached, he gave her a little nod. "Hey, no problem," he said. His eyebrows lifted when she prefaced her next statement with a reminder of what she'd actually asked him to do and he looked more than a little impressed with the idea to put together sort of a temporary, makeshift triage center while they waited for the medical facility to be built and completed. His eyebrows lifted and he nodded. "Yeah, no totally. That's a good idea, I can help with that, yeah."

"Brilliant," she said with a broad smile. Derek was certainly quite helpful, and it didn't hurt that he was dreadfully nice to look at. He had a brooding sense to him, it reminded her of The Doctor just a tad, but not too much that it brought up bad memories. She was looking for a fresh start, after all, and adventure. Why else would she have volunteered for a repopulation/re-civilization task in the first place?

"Obviously we're going to need to put it back at the main camp," Martha started as she took the lead. Never one to just be a follower, Martha already had the layout planned in her head. Seeing as she was the only true medical doctor on the island she took it upon herself to take charge of that aspect. She always fancied herself as the Medical Director type, and this was the perfect time to put those skills into good use.

"I've gathered a few things already. Some empty boxes... tarps... poles... Also found some sturdy vine in the jungle. I figured I could lace this through the tarp and attach one of the flexible poles through it, and voila! Instant canopy." It made sense in her mind, and she could see it coming together nicely. She stopped when she realized she was rambling, and offered up a sheepish grin. "I'm sorry... I have a tendency to just blather on."

Looking around, mostly up in the trees, as Martha led the way, Derek listened to her plan of action and nodded. "Yeah, we definitely need to take it closer to the main camp, agreed. I'm pretty strong, though; I don't see helping you with that being a problem at all," he told her.

She seemed to already have a pretty good game plan in place, in her mind's eye, and Derek had learned the hard way that leading was not his forte. He was more than happy to follow. "Sounds like a good plan to me," he replied and he smirked a little when she apologized for rambling.

Derek shook his head. "No, no," he replied, "by all means. With that accent, you can talk all you want and say nothing of substance, but I'll still follow you around listening," he laughed. Accents: another big turn on. Martha's sounded European; Larissa's had been Brazilian. He just liked them.

"So what we're looking for right now, then, is the vine, right? Cut it down — I can use my claws for that — and take it back?" he asked, to clarify that he understood what she was looking to accomplish with his assistance.

Martha paused when he complimented her accent, and found her cheeks getting warm ever so slightly. She looked at him, lips curling into a smirk as she actually looked at him from head to toe. He was fit, and that smile kind of made her feel weak in the knees. It had been a long time since she felt anything like that, but a part of her wondered if it was the effect of this place. They were supposed to be repopulating so maybe their hormones were in overdrive? She didn't know, but it was nice to feel something for anyone after the debacle with The Doctor.

"You like my accent, do ya?" She laughed a bit, and took a step toward him. "I'm from London, if you were wondering. I happen to like yours. Clearly American. I can't place where since America is so big anyway," she added on. There she went, rambling again.

Martha cleared her throat, and looked back at their surroundings. "Yeah, a vine should do it." Despite the fact that Derek had talked about werewolf culture at the bonfire she still found herself surprised when he talked about his claws. "How does that work again," she said to him. "Claws and fangs and such. You can partially turn into a werewolf?" She didn't say it out loud, but the glint in her eye said that she was curious and excited to see it up close.

Derek's eyebrows lifted, smile still in place when Martha took a step toward him. "Very much, actually," he admitted, lowering his voice a little as he made the same sweeping movement of his eyes over her face and body that hers had done to him a moment before. "I'm from California," he answered the question she'd implied rather than actually asked.

He grinned a little at the way she appeared to be so curious and yet unwilling to actually come out and ask to see for herself.

"Partially, or all the way," he clarified, stepping closer to her. Half of him wanted to back her against a tree right then and there, but Martha was a lot smaller than he was and he didn't want to be perceived as intimidating or threatening.

Instead, he let his eyes graze over her again, not bothering to hide the action at all. "If you want to see, all you have to do is ask," he added, smirking, as his eyes met hers again and he let his light up that glowing ice blue.

"California?" Derek didn't strike her as a Californian. Usually they were the surfer type, weren't they? With bleach blonde hair, and the tendency to use the word "dude" whenever the spoke. Derek was rugged, something she found she liked, and something very very different from what The Doctor was. "The Sunshine State, is that right? Sunnier than bloody England that's for sure." She laughed a bit, and was dreadfully aware of how close he was to her at that moment.

Martha found it fascinating that he could partially change into a werewolf, not at all what was often depicted in movies. "Do you still change on the full moon and all that," she asked with genuine curiosity. And when his eyes glowed ice blue she let out a small gasp and stood even closer to him. Okay, there were definitely some hormones surging up right at that moment and it was so unlike Martha to give into them so easily. It had to be the effect of the island - there really was no other explanation of it.

"I'd like to see it," she said to him while looking up at his face. Her fingers twitched as she wanted so desperately to lay her hand on his chest, but she refrained. "Please?"

"Ahh, that would be Florida, but you're on the right track with weather, anyway," Derek said with a smirk. He'd never been to Europe, although it was something he had considered. In the end, South America where his only living sister had settled had called too loudly to him to ignore, though.

Shaking his head, Derek smiled. "I can, but I don't have to. I can change at will," he answered. "I have complete control over the wolf by now." The gasp almost made him worry that he'd frightened her, but she stepped closer, rather than backing away. That was a good sign, he thought.

She said that she wanted to see and Derek gave her another smile. His head dipped down and he let himself transition into his wolf face, his neck shifting in a little tick he had out of habit, before he looked back up at her again, parting his lips to show the fangs hiding behind them. Derek lifted a hand closed into a fist and flicked his fingers outward to extend them. Once he did so, the claws, too, had extended. "This is halfway. I'd go full on but I'd have to take off my clothes, because they're the only ones I've got and I'd lose them transitioning back," he warned honestly.

Florida... California. They were on opposite coasts, and both were sunny. In truth Martha wouldn't be able to tell the difference if someone had blindfolded her and plopped her into one state or another. Still at least Derek didn't make fun of her for mistaking the two places. Perhaps someday, if they ever went back to their home or went to another universe she would visit those places.

Martha was an ever curious creature. She had travelled through the universe, and through time, and made friends with aliens. She was not afraid unless a creature had shown specifically that it meant to do her or her friends harm. So seeing a man turn into a wolf up close was no big deal to her. She didn't recoil when he shifted, and instead lifted a hand up to touch the fur that was on his face.

"That's amazing," she said in awe. She looked up into his eyes for a moment before she glanced down to his hands. Claws were extended, and she could imagine how menacing he could look given the right circumstance. She laughed when she mentioned his clothes, and shook her head. "Oh I wouldn't want you to lose your clothes," she started to say. "Or would I?" Her voice was teasing, and she couldn't help but laugh a little.

Truthfully, Derek was a little bit surprised when Martha reached up to touch his face after he'd transitioned. Most people would've been at least startled and nearly no one had ever touched the wolf face when he'd transformed into it. In fact, he could count on less than one hand how many people outside his family ever had. It was kind of nice not to have to worry about having scared her, if he was honest.

Derek smiled a little at her response, his eyes still on hers, interested in the vast difference between her awe and the fear he was used to seeing. This place was so liberating. He didn't have to hide what he was because Arva had promised as a condition that if he'd come, the second there was suspected werewolf hunters out for his head, she would send him home and that would be the end of that. So when it came to letting everyone know who and what he really was, Derek hadn't hesitated. He didn't see any reason to start now.

A surprised bark of laughter escaped him when she teased about the clothes and he lifted his eyebrows. "Would you, Dr. Jones?" he challenged back playfully.

Martha's candor and acceptance of other beings often came as a surprise to those she encounters, but if there was anything that suited the woman to being a doctor is was her big heart. She carried no judgements of others based on race or creed, and that made other people feel comfortable.

She was glad when Derek teased her in return. She couldn't help but laugh and promptly shook her head. "No, I wouldn't mind honestly. I mean, you're quite fetching to look at, though I imagine you know that already." Men that looked like Derek often knew they were good looking, and it made them quite popular with the ladies (obviously). Martha couldn't explain why she was being so forward with a near stranger, but there she was doing it. It was liberating and scary. "I'm sure you're used to it," she added. "Women throwing themselves at your feet." She took another step closer to him, and placed her hand on his chest. She was looking up at him now allowing herself to get lost in his eyes.

This was so unlike her, as if the island or the gods or whatever were exerting their influence on her. She wasn't fighting it at that moment, and instead allowed herself to get swept away.

He smirked a little at her response. Well, he thought, at least Martha was honest, if nothing else. Derek did know that he was good looking and it had gotten him out of a bind or two in the past, he supposed, but it had also gotten him into just as much trouble as it had gotten him out of, if he was honest. "I wouldn't go that far," he countered. Women hadn't ever necessarily thrown themselves at his feet. At least, not until he had gotten here, anyway. Derek supposed that had less to do with his looks and more to do with the terrible attitude he'd had for such a long time, though.

She was closer, still, and her hand settled on his chest. Derek smiled down at her and snaked an arm around her back to draw her slowly up against himself. He took his time to give her a chance to wiggle away if she had decided she changed her mind and didn't want to be so close, but when she didn't appear to do that, Derek leaned down toward her, hovering his face close to hers.

"You're quite 'fetching' yourself," he said in a low, husky voice, grinning a little.

Martha wouldn't dare wiggle away, not from tall, dark, and brooding. She liked it. It was different than what she usually went for, but that was good. This place was about new beginnings, and trying out new things, and heavens was she stepping out of her comfort zone with this one. She looked up at him, and let out a little gasp when his arm was suddenly behind her and he had pulled her close.

"Why Mr. Hale," she said as her chest heaved. "I do believe you're coming on to me." She smiled at the thought, and leaned into his body, feeling him beneath her. She imagined that he probably looked quite good out of his clothes, and for a second she was reminded that the only thing that separated them from touching skin-to-skin were the clothes they were wearing. Pesky things they were, but it was keeping her good. For the moment at least.

Martha took another deep breath, and smirked at Derek just as a hand crept up toward his neck. She pulled him down for a kiss, a passionate one, and it lasted for a good minute or so before she pulled away from him. "I can't. I mean, we shouldn't..." she said completely out of breath. "We barely know one another. And snogging is bloody amazing and all that, but I... I want something more. Please don't be upset. I shouldn't have come on so strongly."

With the words out of her mouth Martha felt comfortable enough to slip out of his grasp. "Come on, you still have to show me around the island," she said with a sweet smile. The last thing she wanted to do was lead the man on if she wasn't even sure if she wanted to pursue anything with him. She hoped he understood. She had a feeling he did.
