Fishing wasn't Nick's best skill, overall, but it was definitely in Nick's wheelhouse. So, the challenge that had been issued to him had only made the playful man grin, and agree to do it with every bit of confidence that he went forward with to do just about anything. Foraging, hunting, fishing, and all of that were all included in what all of the young pups had been taught growing up.
Nick just hoped that Chloe didn't ask too much about his methods for catching the fish, anyway. He hadn't exactly fashioned a line or pole of some kind. He had teeth and paws that he could use that made it much easier. Who didn't like being able to cut corners?
Catching several fish hadn't been a big deal at all. Building a fire hadn't been hard either, after that it'd been about preparing the fish, then getting the sticks ready....and trying to do a little more with what he had available. Nick loved food. So, he'd done what any ravenously hungry (like all the time man) werewolf would do. He'd sniffed out other things that would add to the fish. It wasn't a feast, or even one of the big dinners that he'd had back at Stonehaven, but the fish was stuffed with what he could find and make due with...onion, garlic, and some peppers (all of which he'd brought more than just what he needed back). He'd even thrown some potatoes over the fire to roast, though, they wouldn't be as good without some butter, sour cream, chives, bacon, and y'know the other fixings.
Nick was in the midst of turning the fish when he heard the footsteps approaching. He waited until the voice rang before he turned, looking up from where he was crouched. "Trout, actually! With onions, garlic, and some peppers...or some very good copy-cats of those things, anyway." Nick grinned, wolfishly, before he moved to turn the potatoes that he'd speared sticks through. "Not as good as what I can do with a grocery store, or a full pantry available, but..." Nick shrugged in a 'what can you do' motion, eyebrows lifting in a playful look toward the petite blond.
