WHO: Finnick Odair and Briseis WHAT: Catching up WHEN: Tuesday afternoon WHERE: Bri's shelter WARNINGS: Probably not STATUS: Closed, Complete
For the first 24 hours after he'd talked to Lydia, Finnick really hadn't wanted to talk to or be around anyone at all. He'd even taken his comm bracelet off and thrown it into a corner of his hut. By Sunday morning he'd retrieved the bracelet, and was a little surprised not to see any messages from Briseis. She knew he was going to meet Lydia Friday night, and she'd urged him to tell her how he felt. He'd figured she would want to know the outcome. Maybe she was just giving him space? He still wasn't in a mood to talk about it anyway, so he just breathed a sigh of relief that he didn't have to.
By Monday he was starting to get annoyed and feel abandoned. Briseis was really his only friend here, and if she didn't care then no one did. He thought about posting to her, but it felt weird. Like, why was he bothering her with this more than two days after the fact? If she was too busy to bother with him it would feel like an imposition anyway, and he'd just feel even more rejected. Besides, he really didn't want to revisit the details of what had happened, he just wanted someone to care enough to ask how he was doing.
By Tuesday he was getting worried about her. What if something had happened to her? What if she was sick or injured? What if Scott had mistreated her and she was just as heart-broken as he was right now, and suffering alone? There was only one way to find out. He walked to her shelter by the main camp. There wasn't much of a door to knock on, so he just stood outside and called out to see if anyone was there. "Briseis? Are you home?"
