Patty glanced around on the ground when he asked of they could sit, and she really didn't want to. She just wanted him to talk and leave, but she knew that she wouldn't be able to tell him to do that. She told him that he could come, which meant that she should at least hear what he had to say.
She moved over to a fallen tree, sitting on the log and looking up at him expectantly for him to join her.
