Isaiah had no idea how one went about planning an evening in which to conceive a baby. He’d never done that before but he wanted to make this a special night for Rose. She’d spoken to Arva and had been assured that everything was ready. Now it was up to him to make this a special night. First he went to the jungle and picked some flowers, taking them back to the shelter and setting them around to decorate the place. He made a simple dinner and took it there, knowing that Rose would be coming soon since he had sent her a note.
It wasn’t easy to hide his anxiety but when Rose walked in, it suddenly abated. “Hi,” he said. “I didn’t know what to do but I tried to make the place look nice and I made dinner.”
Rose stood there in the doorway for a moment with her eyes wide as she took in the ambience he’d tried to create. It was hard to do the big romantic thing in a place like this, but there was music - probably thanks to Cisco and his mad skills - and flowers. It was simply, but beautiful and the smells coming from the dinner had her mouth watering. Rose wasn’t one for grand romantic gestures, but this was sweet and she couldn’t help smiling as she moved future into the shelter.
“You didn’t have to go to all this trouble,” she told him, even if her expression spoke volumes about how touched she was that he had.
“Well it seemed like something that should be celebrated,” he said with a shrug. “Not just an ordinary dinner or an ordinary night so I wanted to make it something you’d remember.” Isaiah stepped forward and kissed her. “And to say thank you for agreeing to do this with me. I’m sure you could have your pick of guys but I’m glad you said yes to me.”
Rose wasn’t sure that was true, but she didn’t argue. “You know you’re one of the hottest guys on the island, right?” she teased him. “Not to mention your many other attributes which I can list for you if you need me to stroke your ego.” She was teasing, but she also meant it. Isaiah was a really great guy. That was a part of why she’d agreed to this with him. Yeah, he was hot and he was really good in bed, but there was so much about him that she just liked.
“This is really great, Isaiah,” she added a little more seriously. “I mean it. You’re... kind of amazing. I hope you know that.”
“You can stroke anything of mine that you like,” he teased. “I have no objections to that.” Isaiah grew silent for a moment as she spoke and then he leaned in to kiss her. “I don’t know about being one of the hottest guys on the island but thank you, I will take that compliment. And as long as you think I’m amazing, I’m good with that.”
“You don’t wanna eat first?” she teased, but she kissed him back, sinking into his embrace for a moment. Rose was pretty much always hungry, so eating was absolutely going to happen, but kissing Isaiah was becoming one of her favorite activities, too. She didn’t even really care if the food got cold while she took a moment to do this.
At the moment, she wasn’t even thinking about how huge it was that they were planning to make a baby together. She was really just enjoying the moment, having fun with him like she always did.
“Well it’s up to you, we’ve got all night,” he kissed her back, running his fingers through her hair. “We can eat a little now and then a little later…..there’s a reason why it’s not anything that can spoil after all.”
“Mmm, keep kissing me like that and it’ll definitely be later,” she murmured, closing her eyes briefly at the feel of his fingers in her hair. She hadn’t been kidding about him being one of the hottest guys on the island and she couldn’t help admiring how he looked now. She kissed him again, reaching up to thread her own fingers through his hair as she deepened it. The food could definitely wait a while, she decided.
That kiss did it. Isaiah was not hungry anymore, well not for food anyway. Instead he backed Rose toward the bed and then he sat down and pulled her on top of him, slipping his hands under her shirt, touching the warm skin of her back. He still couldn’t believe this was happening. Sure, he’d known that eventually he would have a child, it was expected of them, but he hadn’t planned on meeting someone that he not only cared about but wanted to have a child with so soon. There was no doubt in his mind though that this was right.
It never took much for Rose to switch gears. Even if she'd matured over the last year, she still had a reckless, impulsive nature and a tendency to live in the moment. That was something that probably wouldn't change anytime soon.
Any lingering thoughts of food vanished as the kiss deepened and he felt his hands on her skin. Rose reached for the hem of her shirt while he guided her backwards and by the time she felt the edge of the bed against the back of her legs, she was tossing the shirt aside, giving him easier access to her body.
Isaiah paused only long enough to get his own shirt off before he was kissing her again, his hands running over her body as he kissed her before he moved to her neck and then slowly down to her collarbone and then her breasts. “You’re so beautiful,” he said against her skin. They weren’t simply words, Isaiah had been raised by Arva to be honest in all things and he meant what he said. Rose was beautiful but not only on the outside. She had a beautiful spirit, something that he had seen in her since they’d met and he believed that they were meant to make this baby together.
Rose knew she was hot. She knew guys thought so, too, but something about the way he said those words thrilled her. She could feel that he meant them. They weren’t together in any kind of exclusive way, but Isaiah somehow managed to make her feel special, like she was the only girl on the island. The only one who mattered, at least.
Pressing against him a little more, she pulled him closer - if that was even possible - and guided his lips back to hers, pulling him into a deep kiss. Every place he touched her felt like it had been scorched by the contact and she found herself craving more. They’d done this a few times before and it always felt great, but this time felt even better than usual.
He hadn’t expected it to feel different but it did. Maybe it was because they knew that they were conceiving a child or maybe it was the fact that his feelings for her had deepened. Isaiah cared for Rose, much more than he had expected to, and he wanted her to be happy. Their time together was always special to him even when they were doing nothing more than talking or exploring the island. She was his friend as well as his lover and although he was still relatively inexperienced when it came to relationships, Isaiah knew enough to recognize that this was something special.
Rose wasn’t in love with him, not the way she was with Oliver, but she realized that her feelings went past a casual fling, too. Isaiah had become a good friend, but it was more than that. She felt a connection with him. She felt comfortable being close to him and she liked being with him no matter what they were doing. Of course, she definitely liked doing this. Isaiah was really hot and he was insanely good at sex for someone who’d never had it when they’d first met. She loved the feel of his body against hers and his hands on her.
Even after they’d finished - the first time, anyway - she felt like she couldn’t get enough of him. Rolling them so that she was on top of him, she pressed her lips to his in another heated kiss.
While he had never actually had sex with anyone before Rose, Isaiah had learned a lot about it. Arva and the other gods and goddesses had been open with them and talked frankly about things that they could do to pleasure their partners. He wanted Rose to like being with him and he especially wanted this time to be special since they were going to make a baby. He returned her kiss eagerly and then smiled at her when he broke away.
“So I guess we made a baby,” he said. “It really does feel different when you know that you’re doing that, doesn’t it?”
Laying her head on his chest for a moment, Rose nodded her head. “I know it sounds weird,” she said as she looked up at him and smiled, “but I can feel it. I know it worked. I don’t know how I know, but I know we really did make a baby.”
It sounded corny, but knowing that made her feel even more connected to him now. She reached a hand up to touch his face, brushing back some of the sweat dampened hair that clung to his cheek. It felt like she should say something else in this moment, but for once she was at a loss for words, so she just leaned her head up and kissed him again.
“Not it doesn’t sound weird at all,” he said. “Remember where I grew up. Saying that you can feel it already makes perfect sense to me. Arva can let you know, and think she does. You feel a presence that wasn’t there before. I don’t doubt for a minute that you can feel that.”
This was one of the things Rose liked the most about Isaiah. He had such a unique perspective on things and she liked hearing about how he’d grown up. She enjoyed those little differences between them. “I guess you’re right,” she said, smiling at the way he put it before laying her head on his shoulder so she could just bask in the moment for a while. She’d probably want to get up and eat the food he had for them eventually, but for right now she was perfectly content right where she was.
