WHO Steve Rogers (with Phillip) & Oliver Queen (with Tommy)
WHAT Dad time!
WHEN Middle of the Night
WHERE Just outside the community center
WARNINGS tbd, probably low
STATUS closed | incomplete

Steve didn't mind at all when Phillip started fussing in the middle of the night. After it was clear that he wasn't hungry, just a little fussy, he bundled up in son in the blanket they'd been given and went for a little walk. Natasha needed her rest and he had the super soldier serum coursing through his veins that meant he didn't need as much sleep as she did, so he could take these night shifts. The weather was always warm on the island, so it was comfortable to take his son out in the middle of the night and neither would get cold. His own body heat was enough to make Phillip slightly warm, swaddled as he was. Steve held him with the kind of care he'd had for very few things in his life. His son was precious though.

As they neared closer and closer to the Community Center, Steve decided to take a seat on the sand within the light of the building. The ocean waves were lapping at the shore and the moon shone brightly in the sky, along with millions of stars. It was a beautiful sight to behold, but Steve was utterly taken by his son, though. His attention only wavered when he heard footsteps headed their way. That was when he saw Oliver and grinned, lifting his hand to wave to the other man, inviting him over.

"Looks like we got the night shift sooner than we thought," he said by way of greeting.

Since Felicity hadn't been feeling well, Oliver had decided that once she had gone off to sleep, he'd take Tommy out for a bit. It was warm and this way, she could get some uninterrupted sleep. Since Christine and Pepper had shown her how to use the breast pump and give him a bottle, Oliver could take him out and if he got hungry he could feed him so Felicity could rest. He'd just eaten so it would be a while before he needed anything else.

Oliver found himself headed in the general direction of the community center as he walked along. He was worried about Felicity and he hoped that the change in feeding Tommy would help her feel better. As for the emotional part, he was being supportive and some of the other women had stopped by to talk to her so he hoped that would help.

He hadn't expected to find anyone else out at this time of night and he was pleasantly surprised to see Steve, remembering their conversation from the other night. "It looks like it," he replied. "Mind if we join you?"

"Not at all," he replied, shifting slightly to make more room for the other man and his son. "Phillip decided he wanted to go for a walk, so here we are," Steve explained, still gently rocking his son back and forth in his arms. It was so startling, how small his son was in comparison to how big his muscles were. Now he understood that one headline of Thor holding a baby had compared the child to a burrito. The perspective was entirely different.

"How's Felicity doing?" Steve had seen a little on the network and was concerned with the amount of trouble the other woman seemed to be having. That must be taking a toll on Oliver and Tommy as well, but Steve knew how to be delicate more than most and he wouldn't dive right into it.

Phillip started fussing at the sound of his father's voice and blinked as he squirmed, trying to find the source of who else was talking and who had captured his father's attention. Steve shifted his son just enough so that he was facing Oliver and Tommy more clearly. "Trying to say hi to Oliver and Tommy huh?" Phillip just lifted up his arm more to flail than anything else, but it was more than enough to make Steve smile fondly.
