"Probably on Yavin IV," he replied, echoing the thoughts he didn't know she had. He hadn't eaten since then, at least. War tended to make you forget to eat, or sleep, or just generally take care of yourself. It all just didn't seem as important as completing the mission did. Once the mission was complete, there was a bit of down time here or there before the next one.
Cassian didn't wonder. They were all dead. A mission like that, it was the only way it could go. He just hoped the plans had gotten to where they needed to go. He hoped that his death - their deaths - had made a difference to turn the tide against the Empire. "Better to think about this place instead," he suggested as he pulled her to her feet. It was easier to put his focus on what was right in front of them instead of what was behind them. What was done was done, and there wasn't changing it. He almost didn't want to know.
They walked along the pathway in relative peace until he heard rustling just up the path. Cassian froze immediately and put his hand on her arm to stop her. His whole body was tense as he waited for the threat to come. A minute later, a boar came trotting over the pass. Cassian watched it trot through the other side of the path and back into the forest before he relaxed and let go of her. This was going to be something of an adjustment.
