Cam nodded. At least they were on the same page. He foresaw a huge problem with putting that information out there, though.
Taking a slow, deep breath, Cam let it out just as slowly, his brow creased slightly. "I think that would be effective for the inexperienced men or boys," he started, "...but I don't know about the girls, and here's why:
"I'm an athlete. I played football from the time I was eight years old straight up until a couple of years ago when I quit my college team and lost my scholarship so I could take care of my baby sister. I've been in a lot of locker rooms and I've heard a lot of talk. And I'm not saying that the guys here would be the same, because I'm not, so there's always exceptions to the rule, but..."
His voice trailed off and he rubbed the back of his neck, looking down for a moment before looking back up at her. "Some guys would see 'breaking in' a girl as an accomplishment; bragging rights. Some guys would put their name out there just so they could say they popped a cherry and not because they're legitimately trying to help someone into having a sex life.
"I think your idea is good in theory...but in practice, I'm worried you and other girls like you might not find what you're looking for if you use volunteers like that as a guide. You know?"
Cam tried to keep his voice soft and his expression apologetic, because he was apologetic. The guys on this island might be more like him and nothing like the guys he'd gone to school with, but there was no way to know that and he worried that if they tried something in that vein, then it could potentially be inviting assault on these girls if they were especially unlucky...and that was something Cam couldn't willfully let happen without at least voicing his concern against the thing that could possibly open the door to it.
