Maria's question was a lot more theological than Ray typically liked to get. He typically tended to walk the line between Man of Science and Man of Faith, but he couldn't help wondering whether there was a line to be drawn in the sand in terms of what the gods and goddesses would allow or disallow. "Theoretically speaking," he answered, moving closer again and reaching over her once more to tie the second branch in place. "Unless survival of the fittest overrides the will of the gods, I guess.
