"Survival is the priority," she said as she followed Ray. Her eyes never stayed in one place for long. Maria was used to being on duty or in the field. That meant being aware of her surroundings. It was habit, and one she had no intention of getting out of. "Exposure. Native fauna. Just because we haven't seen much more than game animals doesn't mean predators aren't out there."
When they got to his shelter her mind immediately called it a field A frame. It was very much like something she'd been trained to use when caught out in the wilderness. Temporary. Something like this would be fine for now, but she'd want something more permanent and larger eventually.
Her hands were on her hips as she looked over what Ray had accomplished and nodded her approval. "I would try to make one of these and it would become a kite in the first good wind." She chuckled before giving Ray a nod. "Knots I know."
