In spite of the fact that Ray was a lot less interested in the heavy sexual implications of the island and the project for the time being, he wasn't blind. It was impossible to miss the fact that the women here were beautiful and Maria was no exception. "No, no, not at all," Ray insisted with a smile, taking her hand and shaking it. "I'm still sort of wrapping my head around all of this, but I figure the easiest way to start is to focus on what I know," he said, nodding in the direction from which he'd come to indicate that he wanted her to follow him as he started off back toward his shelter. It looked crude, but Ray wasn't all that worried about aesthetics. In fact, he didn't plan on leaving the shelter the way it was anyway. He just needed something quick to tide him over until he could basket weave a cover out of palm fronds. That would take more time and Ray didn't want to go without shelter in the meantime.
"So, okay...this is what I've got so far," he said, gesturing. The structure was already upright and the top quarter of it was covered with lush branches from one of the palm trees. "I just need to finish attaching those," he said, gesturing to the pile of the remaining branches, "to it. I'll make it better later, but this is a pretty quick fix."
Ray looked over at her and lifted his eyebrows slightly. "The structure is actually really easy to erect," he said, "I can help you in the morning; you can use my leftover cord and I'll help you cut down some branches to use for the pillars. You know how to tie knots? Good ones, I mean, strong knots?"
