We could. It would be a temporary solution, but that's probably all we need. The problem with laying a wood floor on top of the ground is that wood in contact with the ground rots pretty quickly. We can lay joists which will raise the floor a few inches so that the floor boards aren't directly on the ground, but you still have wood, on top of wood, on top of earth, so it WILL rot, but that would buy us more time than just laying boards on the ground. Maybe months, maybe more.
Long term you need a foundation, which is why we are building my house on top of all those concrete blocks and footings.
I think we can do what you're suggesting, but we should wait and see how far we make it on the real house first, and then do that only if it looks like we won't finish in time.
