The basic premise is, If you believe in God and he does exist, you gain. If he doesn't, you lose nothing. If you don't believe in God and he does exist, you lose everything. If he doesn't, you lose nothing.
Put in those terms, believing in God (the Christian God, that is) would seem to be the logical choice. A sort of "shrubbing your wager", so to speak!
