Lara knew that she shouldn't be happy about being stuck, but it was a nice switch for her. She had come here to look for a clue to one of her many digs, but once she had gotten here she had found it harder to leave than she had ever imagined....literally. The town really was a nice place; besides it allowed her to take a break. Of course she missed her friends and it would be nice to have them here with her, but she was used to surviving on her own when she had to.
As she walked into the library the woman smiled at her, and of course she smiled back just to seem friendly. If they could see the weapons she had hidden on her body they probably wouldn't be so nice to her, but what they didn't know wouldn't hurt them. Lara walked down the aisles until she found the book she was looking for. It was a book a mystical portals and barriers; she thought it might be relevant and she wanted to give it a good read.
She carried the book over to the nearest table and began to flip through the pages. What surprised her is that the section on barriers had been torn out of the book. She had seen another copy of the same book on the shelf, so she headed back to the shelf and pulled it down. She flipped to the same section only to find that the pages had been torn from this books as well. She found it curious, but it didn't show on her face. She was good at hiding her emotions; besides she had no idea who might be in on this, so she had to be careful. She placed the book on the shelf and headed over to one of the nearest computers. She turned it on and began flipping through websites.
Another curious thing indeed; only local news would show up on the computer. Anytime she clicked on a site that would contain national news it never worked. Now she knew something was up. So, maybe she wasn't going to get that much needed vacation after all.
