Sam shook the offered hand with an easy smile of his own. He liked this guy, he decided. His instincts about people were rarely wrong, and even though maybe it wasn't the smartest thing sometimes, especially in a city like this, he had a feeling that Cable could be a friend. And everyone needed more of those.
"You're welcome," he half laughed. "I just remember what it was like, turning up here. Figured it's the decent thing to do. And I hope you find someone you know around here. It does happen sometimes, you get on those message boards and find someone unexpected. But even if you don't, you can always swing by the club any time."
For a man who had arrived alone, he had found family here, with Mirta and Ailyn, Claire and Dean, Eliot and others too. "Even if you start out alone, this city has a way of giving people friends if they want them."
