"You know you're allowed to be pessimistic sometimes," Castiel reminded her gently, brushing her hair back with a soft smile and a gentle kiss. "You're having to redefine so much of what used to be second nature to you, and that's not helped by the Senior Partners doing whatever damage they can whenever they can. Lesser people would have simply given up entirely by now. It's why I'm so proud of you."
He didn't just say these things to make her feel better. If nothing else the last six months or so had convinced him that anything less than utter honesty would be unacceptable.
"The journey is what matters, the things you're learning. Some times it will be easier, others harder. That's a curse of this choice you've made. But it will be worth it, eventually, I promise."
He tugged her close, his smile while small was still distinctly playful. It had been a trying couple of weeks and as much as a lo of the time he was more than happy to discuss such things with her, right then he wanted to reconnect with her after the forced separation.
"I think the air definitely needs some clearing," he whispered before he kissed her, slowly and deeply, as his wings stretched out and he transported them both to the warehouse he had mentioned.
