Mary took Ben's chin gently between her thumb and index finger so that she could slowly turn it side to side and survey the damage. He would live, but he was far from fine in her opinion. She was as proud as Castiel at the fact he didn't just give in, but the fact that he got hurt in the process made her furious. Wherever his Dad was, Mary knew that Dean would be furious as well...she just had to find him.
Thinking about Dean made Mary pull Ben even closer, though she knew he was likely worried about squishing Megan, she knew it would be alright for a moment. The thought of breaking the news to him was so hard that part of her wished that Castiel had already told the boy, but she knew that would be the coward's way out. Castiel was the protector of their family, but Ben was her grandson, and it was her responsibility to break the bad news to him.
"Ben, your father..."Mary paused, clearing her throat. "He's going to be so proud of you when you tell him the whole story, but he's not here right now."
