His dad wasn't calling for Castiel. It was just one more nail in the lid for Ben, making the ache in his chest worse. It felt like it was never going to go away, that ache, but it would have to, once they'd gotten everybody back. And they would, because Castiel had promised.
So for now, he had to be tough, he had to keep it together for his grandma. She was pregnant and she needed someone to make sure she didn't freak out and make baby Megan come out with a third eyeball or something gross like that.
Dashing the heel of his hand across his eyes to clear them, Ben nodded and then straightened his back. He didn't feel very ready for any of this, but he had to be. That's what his dad would do, would be, in this situation, so he would be so too.
