When the fight had ended, the demons were dead and the human guards were wishing they hadn't got out of bed that day, they rescue parties began to split. As far as Alesta knew, Faith and the Winchesters were going back to their hours, the Jedi would probably head back to the Hyperion. Alesta found herself wondering beside her mother away from the Wolfram and Hart building at a leisurely pace. The adrenaline was starting to ware off, but they both seemed to be feeling pretty awake. Alesta was suspecting her mother was just so tired that she was over tired to a point it wasn't healthy. That was nothing really new.
"How badly do you think the Xander from the Future is going to get it from Sam and Jacen?" Alesta asked turning her head with slight interest to her Buffy.
"I'm sort of hoping Tenel Ka and Allana manage to keep him away until they're sure that Xander won't end up dead from the confrontation." she admitted with a shrug. "Though a verbal lashing is fully deserved." Buffy herself hadn't confronted the Future Xander. She didn't want to. Well...she did, in a way. But in another way, she didn't want to look at him. She didn't want to set eyes on the guy who had once been her best friend and had basically stabbed them all in the back.
She knew he thought he was helping. But the fact that he could sacrifice Sam ad Jacen...Buffy would rather not know that Xander. She was happy with the one she had here, the one that made sense and was awesome.
"You're not going to say anything to him, are you?" Alesta asked Buffy, a tone of knowing in her voice.
"Nah. I'd rather not...he's not Xander, and I sort of don't want the image of him in my head." she said, tucking her scythe into her belt and then stretching out her arms, relaxing them.
They walked in silence for a while, both just enjoying the silence, which was nice after hearing the sounds of crunching bone and killing things for the past short while. They didn't really have a destination in mind, and with no big reunion to go to, it didn't really seem like that had any place they had to be. When they were a few blocks away from the building, Buffy broke the silence.
"So how long do you guys think you'll be here for?" she asked. "I mean you guys from the future?" yeah, pointless conversation, but hey.
"No idea." Alesta answered. "I sort of thought that we were just here to warn people, and we wouldn't be around long. Maybe were stuck?" the tone in her voice said she wasn't exactly thrilled about that. And it wasn't really hard for Buffy to see why. Everyone seemed to be of different age than what they were use to, and well..she wasn't really her mom. She might never be.
"Maybe, or maybe if the Senior Partners did send you here to screw things up, the Powers will fix it?" they did that sometimes, didn't they? They fixed things, or at least Buffy was hoping.
"I'm kind of hoping." Alesta said with a nod. "I don't think we screwed things up though. Not too badly." she knew there was a chance this Buffy might never have a daughter, but the one from her time did, and that couldn't change, so she had that. Somehow, they'd get home, and she'd see her parents and friends again Slayer Sisters again.
"I think we'll all manage just fine." replied Buffy, wrapping he arm around Alesta for a quick hug. "Though it's weird, I sort of thought everyone was coming back with a warning." it did seem sort of off that some of them came with news of the end of the world and death, and some of them came with no news but good news. "Why do you think you were sent here if you're not here to warn us against death and doom?" Buffy asked curiously.
"I dunno." she said with a shrug as the turned to cross the street, pausing to let a car drive by. "Maybe the Powers sent me instead, to counter all the bad news?" she suggested. "I know you've been having a hard time before you even got here." Alesta said looking up to her mother, who automatically looked down, not saying anything. "I guess maybe I'm just here to let you know that you can be happy?" she said gently. "Probably not normal...but normals totally over rated." the teenage blond said with a smirk. "But you're happy, and you haven't had to kill anything in years." she offered.
Not killing anything in years. Somewhat of a family, but just guiding the future Slayers? It seemed like a future she could get on bored with if she had the opportunity. The thought made her smile slightly. "Doesn't seem so bad." the elder Slayer said with a nod. It could be much worse.
"...so." Buffy said with a grin. "You down for some fries and milkshake?" she asked. "My treat?"
"Need you ask?" Alesta said with a smile, linking her arm with Buffy's, letting herself relax. "Maybe a burger to?" she said hopefully, widening her smile.
Buffy looked over at her, eyebrows raised. "Alright, you know what? You're lucky I like you." she said with laugh, before she set their path to a open late interest.
