============
There were two male figures sitting on a bench in Griffith Park. Their clothes were similar. They were quite different in age, yet both had the same eyes. One would probably think they were father and son. But that would be far from the truth. They were indeed the same person. Damien Thorn. Difference was, one was at their youthful present age, while the older was at least 45 and from the year 2029. They had been introduced some time ago. It seemed that the elder played quite a few pranks and did not seem to like himself for some reason.
The older spoke, "This place.. I came here a lot. Or, I will. I remember that boy god The deity in a young man's body. Dion. Dionysus."
Younger one laughed. "Oh yeah... he was great. There was also that green lady. Quite a vixen, that one. Barely anything on. And it could have been really great."
"Except," the older said, "we really blew it, right at the very moment we mentioned our plaything Logan."
Younger one sighed. "Yeah.. well. If you think back, you will also remember that we were under the influence of truth serum in the water. As was anyone else." There was a pause then. "So, what happens to my son?"
The elder shook his head. His young self had found out about his future heir, their son from seeing a wallet photo. So, he had relented and told himself that yes, he did have a boy, and his name was Jakob. But that was all. However, he'd nearly forgotten how perceptive he was, even back here. Not to mention persistent. "Don't worry about it."
"Well, I am worried about it." Young Damien would keep asking about it too. He knew something had to have taken place. If things were fine, he surely would have boasted about his son, or at least smiled. His counterpart had done neither in his whole time here so far. Which ed him to think that it must have been quite bad. "You do know I'm going to keep asking right? It'll be like the kid who asks why every second. I will get answers no matter what."
Elder Damien groaned. "Goddamn, I forgot how annoying I was at 21. It doesn't change anything. Dwelling on the past, it won't help. Won't bring Jake back, won't bring Mark back."
Younger one had a glare. "I think you're forgetting something. I saw Marky. In that other world, where our lesser evil twin was from. He lived in that timeline."
The other one retorted, "And in all these years, we never went back there again. I can tell you Jakob's fate, but what for? He will still have been.. whatever happened. Don't you get it? I want to spare us pain. Why get a woman, why have a happy son.... only to just lose him in the end? It serves no purpose." He'd wondered if he'd have been better off alone after all.
The young antichrist was shaking his head at this. He hated not having answers. Especially when it concerned him. "Is this anything to do with the future selves of Bart and Virgil? Is it the future thing that is serious, but funny for everyone else?"
"They don't know of it, least I don't think so," the older man said. "You may want to stop right there. You have a general idea of what took place. Believe me, if you knew. If you knew, really knew... it would be bad. There's a chance it could destroy you."
"But I still want to know-" he stopped as he heard something nearby, He turned and saw a young boy pushing aside a branch as he walked by. He felt... something. It was like a pull. A strong sensation. Like when he sensed his other self.
The boy stared at him. He couldn't believe it. It was like looking at an old photo. "Holy shit. Umm.. err, sorry. I shouldn't cuss." Then he saw the older man. He was shocked. Looked a bit older than he remembered. His eyes widened in surprise. "Dad?!"
The younger man nearly choked, surprised at this immensely. Then he remembered. The boy looked familiar, because he saw the wallet photo. "Huh, you look okay to me."
The older one stared, glaring in disbelief. "You are not him.. there's no way! I saw you. You can't be here. It just isn't possible. Can't be my son. I saw..."
"Someone here want to dish on what really happened?" The young man as getting frustrated. "I seem to keep getting the runaround lately."
Jakob paused, unsure. "I was being chased by a demon. Had these bone spike that extend from him. Big glowing eyes. Ugly dude. He almost got me, but I escaped-"
"Bullshit!" The father was not very happy. "You did not get awa.. you.. NO. This is a deception. You aren't him. A shapeshifter. Or you're the demon who did it and now take his form. Or you're a god who gets pleasure from this. you impostor."
"B-but.. but.. you are my dad, you're Damien," the boy stammered as he backed up a bit. He was starting to feel a bit uneasy.
The younger Damien spoke up, "Will you stop that, you're scaring him. I think I'd know if he was lying to me.. err, us. Seems innocent and real to me." He looked at the kid. "Are you really my son? I always wanted one."
The elder glared, then stood up slowly. "Fine. But I am not so easily fooled.. I can't possibly be this gullible! Idiot! But seeing you, I clearly am. Have fun with your delusions." Then he started to walk off.
The boy was trembling slightly, looking around. "So. it did get me, then. I.. I'm really.. I don't know why he don't believe me."
"I believe you," the remaining Damien said. "You're here. So maybe in one future, you're alive.. or you would not be here now. Come on, come here. It's okay. Not sure what is with other me, but.. it's fine."
Jakob slowly walked towards him, slowly but surely, not stopping until he was a few mere inches from him. There was an awkward silence for a moment. Then, as if on impulse, he wrapped his arms tightly around the man, not letting go. "I'm so sorry, Dad! I should have listened, stayed inside where it was safe. Should have.. but I got caught, and scared, and... and..."
Damien hugged him back, still surprised, and just held him here. His hand moved on his back as he whispered. He didn't know why, but he felt connected, and felt sudden strong emotions about him. "Shh, it's okay now. You didn't do it on purpose.. I think. But it's okay, you're alright. And I will never let anything hurt you."
Jakob just stayed there, like this, in his arms. He was so glad to see him again, he'd been very worried. He murmured about being safe and how dangerous this place was. When asked how long it'd been and where he'd been since? He told him all about the LAWC, about Cathy and Fred, and others he'd met. "So can I go home with you, is it safe?"
"Not yet," Damien said. "I just met you and will need to make sure there's no dangers at the manor. You should stay at the Center for a while longer. Don't worry, you'll be able to come home soon."
Jakob smiled. "That would be so awesome... it'd really ROCK."
"It will." Damien paused. "So... uhh, do you know what we are? And why didn't you call me when you first showed up? Not mad, just curious."
"Huh? We're... guys? American? White? Music fans?" Jakob was confused. Then added, "Had to be safe. You told me that the firm should be avoided, that I should not be around any of them. Besides, I wasn't completely sure you were here at this point. But recently.. yeah, I sorta found out."
"Ohh.. I see." Damien supposed that made sense. He'd want his son to have more choices. To be normal if he had a chance to be. "So, I say anti, and you say.." He winked.
"Social?" Jakob asked, still confused. "I'm not that. Really, I make friends just fine."
Damien laughed. "So, he didn't know what they were. That suited him fine. In fact, he sort of liked it that way. He stood up then, releasing his son. Though he didn't really want to let go. "I want to hear all about you. Don't have to give details, no events and stuff if you don't want. Just about you, what you like... hobbies and stuff." He also wondered if he turned out to be a good father. Seemed that he was.
"Sure!" Jakob held his hand as they walked. And they continued to speak as they walked on in the park. Damien was particularly pleased as they continued on. He was still awestruck about knowing he had a son. And was actually seeing him right now..
