Izzy fell quiet when he did, watching him anxiously for any indication that she had done what she specifically set out not to do: say the wrong thing. Instead of finding that in his expression, she saw something in him that she had very rarely ever seen from her father before. He seemed kinda uncomfortable. Just a little bit, but he was quiet, and he really didn't seem mad...
It baffled her, to think that she could be the thing making him feel that way, if what she thought was actually right. Of course, she had to remind herself that her father in 2006 had never met her before. He didn't know their inside jokes or have any of the same memories as she did or anything. He hadn't even known until a few minutes ago that tomatoes were the very bane of her existence.
"Is it really weird?" she asked, slightly apologetic but mostly with genuine interest. "Having me here? I mean, I know it's weird, but is it--...is it bad? I know it's wrong and that parents aren't supposed to meet their kids until they're born, but I didn't--..."
She bit her lip. "It would have been really hard not to tell you. Who I was? But maybe I shouldn't have said as much as I did."
