Dean could feel the coldness coming off of her. Not actual coldness but something foreign and distinctly chilling there. He knew piling her up under blankets wouldn't help, but he had to do something, so he quickly shed his own shirt and jeans and grabbed her, curling up under the plush comforter with her bare skin against his. She FELT cold, but what that was from he wasn't quite sure. He couldn't shake the fear that came with hearing that she couldn't care that she might lose everyone if she continued on the path. She didn't want them around...It wasn't hurt that he felt as much as worry that she would push him away. He'd clutch her tightly for as long as he could, but if she pushed him away hard enough...
"Listen to me," He pressed a kiss to her forehead, then again to her cheek. "It isn't going to be something you quit wanting, Claire. It's not going to be something that dies down quickly. The numbness is gonna take a while to go away, but it will. It does."
He was no expert in that sort of thing, but he knew from his own experiences that with time, a little space, a lot of love, and people who cared about him, he felt a little more human most days. He had to believe she would too.
