In response to that, Natalie's mouth dropped open briefly, then she dug out a disapproving look amid her tears.
"You said a swear," she announced in a voice that could only have been more scandalized if she weren't crying. Girls weren't supposed to swear, and not even any of the boys were allowed when they were around, or Grandma yelled at them.
"If we don't go home right now, I'm telling." What? It was leverage and Natalie wanted to go home.
