Sam tensed immediately. It wasn't something that he chose to do on purpose. It was a natural reaction to the subject being thrown out between them. Sam should have been all for it. Who wouldn't have been? But considering everything that had gone in through the past few months, with both of them...
Sam shrugged lightly, leaning back. He pulled his arms away from Faith and looked down. There was something in his stance that came off as more than wary and Sam wished with all his might that he had the ability to change that. To cover it up and put up some kind of excuse that seemed legit and reasonable enough. But that was what he had spent those last few months doing with her. Sam had vowed to change that and he wasn't going to back down now.
"I don't know if that's such a good idea," he finally said, sighing. "I mean - it's not that I don't want to." He held a hand up defensively. "Don't get me wrong here. I do. I really, really do. But do you really think that you're ready for...that? After..." He looked down again. "I don't want to put you through something that you're not gonna be able to handle."
