"You wrote her reference?" she said flatly, in a 'I can't believe you did that tone.' What did she even do anyway? Was she actually any good at anything besides being annoying and whining all the time? God, Harmony with a talent...nah, she didn't see it. "...no way a television show came from one reference." it had to be something else. Yes, maybe she bribed the TV producers or something. Or...maybe people really did just love the stuff she dished out. Buffy couldn't see why.
Cordelia. Right, Cordelia had died. "She's fine." Buffy said, reassuring him quickly. "Cordelia told me she came from a time before she died. And the Scourge didn't get her here. They're gone." AI had seen to that. Nice and destroyed, every last one of them, as far as she could tell.
So maybe she was a tiny bit jealous, but she knew Cordelia was important to Angel, and she could live with that. She had been, and it was fine. It made sense that he would ask about that, and Buffy was glad she could firmly tell him the other girl was fine.
Looking at him, she zoned out for a moment, taking in the features she remembered so very perfectly from those years when she was a teenager. It had been years for her since she had seen him. Years, and of course he looked exactly the same. Exactly like she remembered him. "So did the Powers appoint you the leader of AI again, or are you being tossed in at the bottom to work your way up too?" she asked. Had they brought him back to take over again?
