Team Ass-kicking
While they waited, Buffy had been silent. She was in a calm state, the feeling that they were finally moving into place, and that this was going to be over soon. One way or another, they were finishing this, and the Scourge was going to regret the day they decided to step food in a city protected by a Slayer. Any Slayer. She was leaning against the building, arms crossed, her Scythe held loosely in one hand. Behind her the rest of her attack squad was waiting. She didn't know what they were talking about, if anything at all, she wasn't listening. Her last communication had been with Xander to make sure he was all set, and ready to go, before she had gone silent. Her eyes were locked on the building they were about to attack.
The numbers were against them. But then again, weren't they always? Yet she managed to pull off the impossible, why not this time? Sarah and her team were inside, they'd seal off the exists except for one, and they'd be sheltered. Then they'd join the fight. This would work. It had to work, because they had to win.
Then she heard Sarah's voice in her ear, just as the explosions rattled the building. Attack now, while the demons were still thrown off. Xander had aeriel covered, she trusted him with her life, he'd see it done, make sure all the guards were killed. "Nathan, Clark, move in. Xander, take them down." she said into the headpiece, before looking over her shoulders at her squad. They all knew the plan. The demons should only be able to come at them from one direction. They'd be forced to come out one at a time through one entrance, and they would take them down as it happened.
"Lets move!" she said, over her shoulder. They weren't far from the building, they were just really well hidden away so as not to blow their cover. As soon as the debris had stopped flying, allowing for them to safely attack, Buffy started moving. She didn't look back, she just hoped Faith's team would follow. She expected them to, but you could never be sure. She knew at least someone them would be hot on her heals. She wasn't one of the Slayers who got to take part in the main action anymore, she was always observing, making sure things got done right. Not this time. Buffy wasn't watching as everyone else fought. She fully intended at being at the front of them. If she could make the first kill, all the better.
She was aware of everyone who was with her. She knew their names, and their abilities. When she'd first started this gig, being a leader, she hadn't bothered. That was where Faith had been better than her. She'd learned her lesson, taken the time to place faces to names, abilities along with them. Those who she got to talk to a little more, all the better. She would not make the mistake of not getting to know them while she could again.
The enchanted metal of her scythe flashed as she brought it into position, ready to cut down the first demon she reached. Hit them hard, hit them fast. Now or never.
