WHO: Lavender Brown and Sarah Petrelli WHERE: An out of the way cafe WHEN: After this WHAT: Lav really need to talk to someone. STATUS: Incomplete RATING: TBA
Lavender apperated in front of the cafe a few minutes earlier than the designated time to meet Sarah. She was in the desperate need to talk to someone, and she was positive that Sarah might be the only one who wouldn't freak out at her, or possibly attempt to inflict bodily harm.
The situation with Ruby was leaving her feeling more than a little overwhelmed. But she still wasn't going to go back on her word, the job was still Ruby's, and if the demon truly did mean what she said - Lavender was going to do everything in her power to help her.
She was already starting to see that Ruby was right, that it was going to be hard. Lavender had a feeling that Sam and Faith might not forgive her for hiring the demon. She wasn't sure about Claire, but she wasn't expecting warm fuzzies. What she was expecting was many of the people she considered to be friends before, to not be part of that category anymore.
At least Castiel seemed at least a bit more accepting of the idea, he had warned Lavender she was taking a huge risk, and Ruby had said the same thing...but she was a Gryffindor right? It's what they did. They did the brave thing, they tried to take the moral high ground, even when it was hard even when it sucked they were, at least supposed to do the right thing. Was this it?
She had briefly wondered what Harry would have done if he was in the same situation. Not that she'd do the exact same thing Harry would do…Claire’s question had made her think that. What would Harry do if Voldemort said he was sorry? That he wanted to make up for what he had done? Harry being Harry would probably do the right thing, and try it…at least on a trial basis. Hadn’t he saved Peter Pettigrew from being murdered? It wasn’t exactly the same situation, but close enough.
She entered the café and got a table near the window. She was in over her head wasn’t she? Maybe everyone was right, maybe she was already under some sort of spell of Ruby’s and was going to mess everything up. But maybe she wasn’t. Castiel said he needed to believe there was a chance Ruby was changed, albeit for personal reasons. Lavender had to believe it too, besides a small chance was better than none at all.
Lavender grabbed her napkin and began to fiddle with it, a knot forming in the middle of her stomach.
“I am going to do this,” she said to herself. “No matter what. My mind is made up.”
Merlin, what was she getting herself into? Still, she wasn’t going back on what she said. If Ruby meant every word if it then she needed someone right now. Lavender knew how that felt. Sure, what she did wasn’t the same thing – but she had done some horrible things. She had gone hunting with Darla when she was in human form, she had given into her inner wolf to many times, and she had been given a second chance, when she knew she wouldn’t have given herself one.
Lavender didn’t get it herself, but she felt like she needed to do this. More than anything. And if she was wrong…then either way she was sure she’d end up dead, and for her at least it wouldn’t matter.
