"I don't know, sweetheart," Cathy told her honestly, a frown taking over her features as it usually did in this situation. The frustration of being unable to give perfect answers to every question the new arrivals posed never went away. "Some people that appear here, the way you did, only stay a couple of weeks until they're returned back to their homes. Others, like myself, will be here for years and might not ever go back."
Eponine's surprise at the deal broke Cathy's heart, but she was unsurprised, knowing as much about the girl's circumstances as she did. "Because we have more than enough room," she replied easily. "And it's no trouble at all to make sure every guest has their own space."
