She hadn't misheard. The woman had mentioned Marius. But she didn't seem to want to talk about it. Not out on the street maybe. Maybe once inside. When she'd had food and had things better explained.
"Until I get used to it" she repeated with some confusion "So I am to stay here? For how long. I should be dead" she said quietly.
"I do not understand any of this"
And she didn't she truly didn't. This place. The fast moving veichles. The loud noises, all of it. But the blonde woman seemed to have answers. Besides what could she do to a girl that by all rights should be dead.
"A room of my own?" she asked after a beat unsure if she'd heard properly. "Why?"
Yes she was suspicious, but thats how life was. No one got something for nothing. Her father had taught her that one.
