In the middle of a discussion with Dean about the demon problem needing taken care of, John was surprised, but quickly alert, at his surroundings abruptly changing. Survival instinct made him reach for a weapon, but circumstance left him empty-handed and bristling as he did a quick sweep of the area, noting those gathered, the room and, most of all, the otherworldly creatures feet away. The empty-handedness only became that much more frustrating when he laid eyes on the demon in the room.
Unable to do much, he pulled Mary close, visually inspecting the rest of his family, including Sam, but that glance was brief and only served to harden John's expression further, leaving no room for even a flicker of his feelings to show over Sam's current body language. That Faith was bowing identified one side of these beings over the others, and the one individual John had never had face-to-face acquaintance with, only internet familiarity, served as additional identification of the other being.
"Talk about what?" he barked, a semi-conscious part of him perhaps realizing that a less combative tone might be fitting here, but with the situation stacking in a way John heartily disliked – in a room with the two warring powers responsible for them all being in this world, his pregnant wife brought to who knew where they were, his addict son placed in the same room as that thing, and John who knew how far away from the weapons that would finish said thing once and for all – he wasn't in the mood for any form of diplomacy.
