Bruce wasn’t sure of how he was supposed to react to Dick. Seeing him was inevitable and yet, he was hoping that he would get more time to sit there and wait for it to happen. Avoiding him was out of the question but approaching him before he had to was nerve-racking. How was somebody supposed to tell someone who they supposedly adopted, that they were only familiar with them because they had read a file tucked away in a computer?
In the study, Ace turned around in a circle and then lowered himself to rest comfortably beneath the chair where his master sat, happy to lay there with his head on the floor. Terry was in the Cave and Bruce could relax knowing where he was and what he was doing. The kid went out and he worried. The kid didn’t sleep and he worried. Hell, Terry got a certain look in his eyes and he worried. He was the only one that he did that with and Bruce wouldn’t admit to it, but it was true.
He wondered if he’d eventually become accustomed to Dick being around, just as he had become accustomed to Terry. He hadn’t known Terry when he’d shown up and to be honest, he hadn’t approved of him at first glance. This wasn’t the same. Dick would want him to know who he was. He would expect it.
Ace lifting his head and barking was the first sign of someone else being in the manor. The dog stood up to venture out and into the foyer and Bruce followed behind him. Ace laid eyes on the new arrival, was unsure of him and flicked his ears back. Looking Dick over once, Bruce was silent along with his dog.
