"Do you think I like thinking of him, screaming, needing me, needing the blood. I'm not proud of the method, I'm really not, and he would have trancended that, he wouldn't have needed it much longer and he would have..."
Ruby lost her train of thought as her eyes widened in utter shock, he couldn't just disbelieve her love, he couldn't, she needed him to believe that if nothing else.
"Because you can, you have to, please?"
She looked down, utterly bereft and knowing he probably very much thought she deserved it. But she needed him, needed him because she knew now what it was like to have nothing.
"What do you want from me, what do I need to do to prove..."
Even as she said it she feared what he might ask, the words catching in her throat.
"You can see" she exclaimed wildly "You can tell right? You can look at me, really look, and you can tell that I love you. I just need to know you believe that and that you lov..."
She wasn't going to bank on that either. Not anymore. Where had it all gone so wrong for her.
