"Strong?" Did she really not see? See what had been done to him?
"He's far from strong, Ruby. I've never seen him so weak. He's nothing more than an addict now, no different to some strung out heroin junkie. Did you not see him in there? His family were crushed, his girlfriend walked out on him, and all he cared about was his next fix. In fact, you tell me, when was the last time he even cared about you? Your feelings, your pains? When did you become nothing but a source of blood for him?"
He ran his hand over his hair, making it more mussed than it already was. The sun was starting to rise, a fresh new day dawning. It just made him feel more tired.
"That man is not Sam Winchester any more, he is just the broken remains of someone he used to be and you did that to him. You eroded away his humanity and all for some twisted ideal that wasn't even true."
She asked the question he'd been dreading, the one he didn't actually have an answer for.
"I don't know," he answered shortly, his voice tight. "I haven't decided yet. I know what I should do. And I know..." he made himself look at her, the betrayal clear in his eyes. "This, you and me? It's over. You betrayed everything I am, Ruby. We're over."
