"Ok," Dean said, casting her a grateful look and returning her kiss before he headed for the stairs again. "I'm just going to peek in on Ben." Ben would no doubt be mortified to know his Dad was checking up on him like that, but Dean didn't care. He wouldn't rest well--or at all--until he knew how this was affecting his son.
At first, not seeing Ben sound asleep on his bed didn't affect him. He went calmly to the guest room, remembering the extra comfortable bedding his Mom had got for the room. Not finding Ben there, he cursed and went to Sam's room. No doubt the boy was in there, wanting to feel closer to his uncle Sam.
Only Ben wasn't there. Dean did a second round of the rooms, going from one to the next and searching every corner and closet. Ben wasn't there.
His heart pounding in his chest as he got a sinking feeling, Dean went back toward the staircase at a run. "CLAIRE."
