For some reason, Ben sagging like that just made Castiel feel worse and he sighed, openly crying himself by now. It was something about Ben being there that made the floodgates of emotions open up and now he couldn't rein them back in. The only control he could claim to have was not bringing a storm down on all their heads.
"I don't know," he replied quietly. It was a half truth, he knew parts of it, knew parts of why Ruby had done this, even if he couldn't get his head around the idea. He'd thought, he'd hoped that everything they'd all been through would have been enough to make Ruby what Sam had always believed her to be.
Part of him wanted to know how it had even all started, even if he thought he'd struggle to cope if he knew. It probably didn't even make a difference by now anyway, the damage had been done. Now he just prayed it could be fixed.
"Ben," he tried to make sure his voice sounded as calm as possible. "Does your family know where you are?"
