Denial was all well and good to keep partially calm, but that fled on the wind when Claire heard Ruby thank Dean. She didn't have to look at Dean, didn't need to be inside his head, to know that the demon couldn't have said anything worse than those words. And Ruby knew it, she had to, which just enraged Claire. Ruby was standing there, provoking everyone, it had to be just as clear to everyone else as it was to her that Ruby was a lying bitch.
And Sam wasn't denying it, he was raving like some deranged person, thinking himself all powerful, thinking he could save everyone. That behaviour that she and Faith had talked about so much before and now it was there, on display, and far worse now than it had ever been.
She didn't want to hear it. She wanted to walk away. She wanted to scream, she wanted to cry, she wanted to rage, she wanted someone to be held accountable for this.
Ruby. She'd pulled all of them, everyone in this room and everyone not in it, through the biggest con ever, and she was still there, still alive, because Castiel was stopping anyone from killing her. Right now, Claire didn't care if he loved her, didn't care that in his place she would have done no less than protect and try to reason with people. She'd regret it later, but right now, he was the obstacle in the way of the only thing that felt like it would make her feel better, the only thing that Dean wanted to do right now and deserved to get to do after what Ruby had just said to him.
"What the fuck, Castiel!?" she screamed. "Your job is supposed to be protecting the Winchesters and instead you're protecting her and harming ALL of them. Why does she even deserve to live?"
Angry tears escaping to slide down her cheek, she moved forward the rest of the way, not to restrain Dean but to look up at Castiel, literally shaking with the force of emotions that had no real outlet, even with the yelling.
"She doesn't even love you, she was just using you, using all of us! I should have given her to Uriel when I had the chance. You should have given her over, then none of this would have ever happened."
And not because it was all on that fucking demon's head, oh no. Sam had made it more than clear that he'd chosen this, that he'd bought into whatever Ruby had said and become a... a... a disgusting bloodsucking not-vampire!
All this time, all the people he'd let down, all the people he'd not been there for like Dean and Ben and Faith...
Faith.
Claire's glanced at the door Faith had exited from and when her gaze swung back to Sam, it was anger on another's behalf that burned there. He'd sucked Ruby's blood, after all the things he'd said about Claire's own blood and how it was hers and shouldn't be given away, built it up into this whole idea that the whole process of giving blood was so fucking special.
And he'd been guzzling a demon's. Claire couldn't imagine how Faith now felt, but she could predict how she'd feel in her place, like that he might as well have slept with Ruby if he was going to basically cheat.
"I hope you're happy with yourself for all of this," she said, not yelling now, just shaky and so damn angry, "for what you've done to Faith."
