Not sure how 'Will' fit into the equation, Buffy's dry lips repeated "Boyfriend?" questioningly in puzzlement. Luckily, Gus took this as an act like her earlier dimwitted behavior. She'd gone so far as to deny she was a Slayer to him. Of course, that girl hadn't been the Slayer.
Much as she sometimes found Spike annoying, he was the one she wanted backing up Faith here. She trusted him. They were both strong. But they dis still need to outwit Gus long enough to keep Faith from being put in chains, herself, because that wouldn't solve this problem. Buffy wasn't strong enough to put up a fight at her full-force, and she had already acknowledged this misfortune with displeasure.
And Jesus - why was Faith blonde? There was no getting over that.
Even though she knew it wouldn't hurt as much as it would for a human, Buffy made a show of cringing when Faith took the blade to Spike's neck. But Faith was good, she made it a shallow cut that looked more extreme than it was. There was enough blood for show. And vampires liked blood, of course.
Gus seemed happy that Buffy was upset at the inflicted pain on her former beau. At least she was doing something now, for the last hour in her cage she'd just been silent and motionless. And before that - rage. And before THAT? Crying like a baby.
"Okay yea," Gus agreed. "Prolly shoulda just done 'em in the heart." He mock stabbed himself with his hand. "That's poetic justice, ain't it Phil?" Phil nodded, having no clue. "Ah well, dead is dead." He lazily, confidently, strode up to Faith. "I thinks you'll be real happy here. And iffin' you're not? Guess that don't really matter." He laughed, a boisterous and rude laugh which was picked up and continued by members of his gang.
Gus reached forward and curled his hand around one of Faith's tiny, pale wrists. He looked behind him and called back. "Slit her throat, how bout's." He was referring to Buffy, who of course they didn't plan to let live.
The guy with the chains reached around Buffy with his own knife, bringing it to the front of her throat in glee.
Gus looked back to Faith, a big ol' smile on his face as he prepared to order Faith into her chains. "Guess we win, honey pie." Him and all of his guys could contain Faith.
