Ruby closed her eyes wearily leaning back against the wall trying to regulate her breathing. This wasn't how the reunion was supposed to go, he was supposed to take her in his arms, and kiss her, and take her right there in the alley and make her forget. Why couldn't he just have done that.
She looked down, away from that piercing gaze.
"Why can't I?" she asked, knowing how petty she must sound. "Besides I remember being her, I remember the fears and the praying to God for blessed salvation. I'm the last thing she wants to see, and I don't think I need to confront my past any more than I already have. What good would it do anyone?"
She brushed hair from her eyes and finally looked up at him, the odd sensation of fear replaced with a smirk, "Now, where were we? There was talk of bowing"
